The Stirrer recommends Rootsville

“The Stirrer is delighted to give you first news of a fantastic new one-day festival coming to Birmingham this summer, featuring an admirably eclectic array of bands, from 90’s indie heroes Inspiral Carpets to local jazz-hop star Soweto Kinch to Afro pioneers Osibisa.

There’ll be four stages for the all-dayer, with free admission between noon and 6pm, with a £20 charge for the evening – terrific value when you look at who’ll be there…Just what we need for a great summer in the city. Let us also tip you the wink that the first 500 tickets are a fiver off at £15. Go on, what are you waiting for??? The Stirrer

Ah well, after a week of anxiety, troubling whether to cancel the event or not, we decided not to bottle it and progress as planned. Certainly the ambition was there, and there were extremely excellent and heroic performances from artists, crew and organisers alike - in the most testing of adverse conditions. Unfortunately the manifest effect of the weather was to ensure delayed performance times etc - frustrating for performers and audience alike. To anyone who attended or performed organised or supported, we are really grateful for your support and can only apologise if the rain undermined your enjoyment or perspective. Please let us know your thoughts. cheers Kent - Rootsville Festival organiser

ps Please send us any pictures, comments or reviews that you find about the festival. Next year’s Festival planning will be starting again soon……..
