WELCOME TO ROOTSVILLE.

Rootsville is an innovative event which is seeking to combine the essential ingredients of the best festivals….

· Live entertainment from 4 different outdoor stages, spanning a multiple of genres from the truly exotic to the purposefully prosaic, from local homespun heroes to international superstars.

· Providing all the favourite festival distractions that ensure a carnival like atmosphere: random acts of spontaneous entertainment, fabulous food stalls, film shows, cabaret, comedy, fashion etc

· Selecting a location at The Custard Factory which distinguishes Rootsville from all the others: smack bang in the centre of the country’s 2nd largest city set amid the anachronistic charm of Victorian industrial buildings and gigantic Railway arches.

· Establishing a pricing structure that enables maximum accessibility – free until 6pm, £20 thereafter.

The spirit of Rootsville is hiptripstic and happy but with a seething malcontent that can only be exorcised through explosive cathartic performances live on stage. Tune in, turn on and standback – the explosions begin at midday on Saturday 30th june.

Weather Forecast:

“ Saturday 30th June, Weather forecast good.  Expect thunderbolts, lightning, whirlwinds and tornadoes.  Rootsville is in Town.”

Ah well, after a week of anxiety, troubling whether to cancel the event or not, we decided not to bottle it and progress as planned. Certainly the ambition was there, and there were extremely excellent and heroic performances from artists, crew and organisers alike - in the most testing of adverse conditions. Unfortunately the manifest effect of the weather was to ensure delayed performance times etc - frustrating for performers and audience alike. To anyone who attended or performed organised or supported, we are really grateful for your support and can only apologise if the rain undermined your enjoyment or perspective. Please let us know your thoughts. cheers Kent - Rootsville Festival organiser

ps Please send us any pictures, comments or reviews that you find about the festival. Next year’s Festival planning will be starting again soon……..
