The Ripps

the ripps1
Highlighted by the NME as one of the bands at the centre of the scene currently spawning in the Midlands, The Ripps combine a mixture of cool pop, punk and ska www.myspace.com/theripps

The Inspiral Carpets
inspiral carpets1
The Inspiral Carpets are one of those great English singles bands. Up there with Madness or the Kinks or The Buzzcocks those effortless purveyors of a machine gun rush of fine three minute statements. In the late eighties and early nineties The Inspiral Carpets hit the chart far more consistently than their fellow Madchester travellers the Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses www.inspiralcarpets.com

Kubichek!
Creators of this year’s best indie rock debut; make no mistake, Newcastle’s Kubichek! are a devoutly special band. As incendiary as the intentionally explosive exclamation mark that doorstops their moniker, like all the best bands, they come armed with a musical manifesto – a mission statement if you will – that encompasses their lust for uncompromising DIY punk jitter, noir tinged, New Wave tainted atmos, and feedback swamped melodic sass www.kubichek.co.uk

Mistys Big Adventure
A glorious 8 piece band from Birmingham in the UK, made up of brothers and sisters and twins and saxophones and trumpets and cute, weird dancers who produce the most uplifting, life affirming tunes you will hear since Louie Armstrong played with the Lovin Spoonful. www.mistysbigadventure.co.uk

One Eyes Blue

one eyes blue_150dpi
Oneyesblue are a band at the fore-front of the Midlands music scene, spearheading the revival of grass roots Blues and Americana. The band who were recently described as ‘The Sweethearts of the Rodeo’, deliver a raw 1960s Basement Blues sound, with fuzzed out guitars, pounding drums and 3 harmonised vocal melody lines. www.myspace.com/oneyesblue

Ah well, after a week of anxiety, troubling whether to cancel the event or not, we decided not to bottle it and progress as planned. Certainly the ambition was there, and there were extremely excellent and heroic performances from artists, crew and organisers alike - in the most testing of adverse conditions. Unfortunately the manifest effect of the weather was to ensure delayed performance times etc - frustrating for performers and audience alike. To anyone who attended or performed organised or supported, we are really grateful for your support and can only apologise if the rain undermined your enjoyment or perspective. Please let us know your thoughts. cheers Kent - Rootsville Festival organiser

ps Please send us any pictures, comments or reviews that you find about the festival. Next year’s Festival planning will be starting again soon……..
